Can Betterplace help me?

Is Betterplace an estate agent?

No. Betterplace is an alternative to estate agents. We buy houses directly from homeowners and create tailored solutions for people who have difficulty selling on the open market.

How does Betterplace’s house buying service work?

Everyone’s circumstances are different. We work with you to understand your needs and put a tailored plan in place to buy your property in a way that works for you, and at a price that makes sense. We look at the bigger picture, taking into consideration all relevant factors, including your reason for selling, urgency and deadlines, your mortgage or other debts, your personal circumstances and wellbeing, as well as the condition and value of the property.

Who actually buys my house?

In most cases, we buy houses ourselves, however there may be circumstances where the best solution is for us to facilitate the sale of the house to a third party.

What does Betterplace do with the houses it buys?

Houses we buy are usually renovated and then rented out or sold on.

Will Betterplace buy my house for cash?

If we feel it is right for your circumstances, a quick cash purchase may be one of the solutions we offer you.

Will Betterplace pay market value for my house?

The price we can offer depends on your circumstances and the solution we are able to create for you. We look at your challenges first and foremost and may offer you more than one solution. The final agreed price can be below or above what you could sell for on the open market and may be subject to other conditions of sale. If you are able to sell your home on the open market for a better price, we recommend that you do.

Could Betterplace help me sell if I’m in negative equity?

Yes. If the value of your mortgage is higher than the current market value of your home, we can usually find a solution that enables you to sell without being indebted to the bank. For more information, see our guide to negative equity.

Could Betterplace help me if I am being threatened with repossession?

Yes, if you act urgently we may be able to find a solution to stop repossession of your home.

Can Betterplace help if I have secured debt against my house preventing me from moving?

Yes, we will assess the level of debt and look for a workable solution with you and the lenders that enables you to move home.

My house is uninhabitable, has structural damage or is in need of repair, will you still buy it?

Yes, we buy houses in any condition. Any defects will be taken into consideration within the offer or solution we are able to provide.
